Radio Happy Hour Andrew W.K. Review. Party On!!!

Jedi Party Master Andrew W.K. Kick's It Live On The Radio
Radio Happy Hour. Karen Litsky

This is no better way to spend a beautiful summer sunny saturday then in the basement at (le) poisson rouge.  Ok come on Ephman you must be cRaZy!!!  Party yes he is.  However, catching an episode live of Radio Happy Hour with special guest Andrew W.K. could not be missed.  There is a disclaimer associated with this review:

Ephman was drunk, and any inaccuracies he is not responsible for.  You should have been there.

This radio show, can it even be called a radio show?  Actually does not get aired on the radio.  You can however check it out at Radio Happy Hour's website, or you can search for the episodes at iTunes.  This way you'll fully get what Ephman is going to try and describe.

Sam Osterhout and Geoff Herbach put together this great parody or should Ephman say "interpretation" of the fatefull events of one fall Saturday in high school detention.  Bring in The Breakfast Club & add a bit of Alfred Hitchcock, and you've got The Killer Club.  All your fav's were there from Andrew W.K.'s awesome (yet malfunctioning) redo of Bender, and Herbach's jock.  the double dutying Robin Reed (playing both Claire and Allison), and Matt Skibiak (sound effects, Pricipal Tim Gunn, & the french Canadian janitor).  Sam plays the doink "Brian", and narrator.

Can you believe Principal Tim Gunn was murdered?  And the day unfolds by everbody blaming everybody else, the janitor trying to figure the whole mess out.  The classic part was Andrew W.K. was wearing his signature bloody shirt. Ephman's not going to give away the story, go and download the podcast and listen... it's worth it.

It's very ironic that about 6 weeks ago when Sam and Geoff started writing this Breakfast Club version John Hughes was still alive.  It's sad that John passed away a few days before this performance.  This just makes this performance even more iconic.

The next episode is going on sometime in October.  So keep in touch with (le) poisson rouge's website.  This radio show sells out fast, and is an amazing hour of fun fun fun, and laughter.  With previous guests like Norah Jones, and Michael Showalter who knows who could be next?
