Trek 1.2 Road Bike Review

WOW it comes with Alpha Aluminium (sarcasm not included)
Ephman's Trek 1.2

Every other freaking bike here in NYC, is a Trek it seems like, so it was no surprise that when Ephman went bike hunting and landed at Bicycle Habitat in Soho, the first bike the guy showed him was a Trek!  With that said, after about a 3 minute if that test ride up to the end of the block and back, he bought it.  With a bit of a discount due to the hairline scratch he found at the time, but can't find now.  In any event the bike sat for about 3 weeks in his apartment not being riden.  UNTIL TODAY!  It was too nice a day to sit in all afternoon and blog.  So out came the bike, and ride he did.  First down the West Side Highway, and that was fun.  The bike seems very light and easy to ride.  Also after you get some steam going, it seems to glide along really nicely, since Ephman is lazy, that is an important feature.  When he got the Battery Park, he decided he'd keep going.  There were a LOT of people walking around down there, and this bike performed wonderfully in the heavy foot traffic.  Seemed to be easy to balance at slow speeds, and quick to turn when a tourist just stepped out and in the way.  The ride when on up the east side to the Brooklyn Bridge.  Figured it was time to see what this bike was like on a hill.  OK, the ascent of the Brooklyn Bridge is not a natural hill, but for this test it seemed to do just fine.  Keeping in mind the laziness of Ephman, in low gear it was really really easy to pedal the bike up. The down was fun too, it picked up some nice speed, and wanted to keep going faster, but with the amount of people around Ephman was not into crashing into them this day.  Once he was over into Brooklyn and nobody was around he let it rip.  Wow this bike is easy to get up to speed.  This bicycle is meant as an entry level road bike, but for the price (can't remember what he paid), it's no entry level.  It's so light that when he got back home after that 3 hour ride, he slung it up over his shoulder and into the elevator it went.  So if you're looking for a decent road bike and you have the level of riding i do (not that much, but like to ride), this one might just bee the one for you.
