Ephman gets consistently asked by his fans "what makes you so funny?" All he can say is that all he's trying to do is rip off the SCTV show. That's all...
This very special show is one of those rare things that was on four different channels, with three different incarnations. All for the most part with the same cast. And what a cast that was. Catherine O'hara, Andrea Martin, Martin Short, Joe Flahrety, Eugene Levy, and the very funny and very dead John Candy.
Here are some of the Top SCTV Skits Of All Time:
This is a classic. Eugene Levy is a master at imitating Alex Trebek.
Gun it is important today, as it was back during Tommy Shanks day. See, SCTV took place in a real fictitious town. An Tommy was the mayor. He'd have all this "fireside" type of chats that made totally no sense what so ever. How he was ever elected is anybody's guess. But Ephman would vote for him.
Impressions of celebrities was on of the specialties of SCTV. They had these totally absurd versions of the original. And come on wouldn't you want to learn from the best. Just think about the way Ricardo used to say "fine corintian leather".
Larry wasn't a long lived character on SCTV. But a well loved one. He just looks like he's about to have a heart attack at any moment. He'd make Ephman nervous the second he's get on. For a talk show, he's all talk. Too funny!
Even after 25 years. Things just don't change. And wow is this a party of an anniversay show. Have you ever wondered what happened to Leave It To Beaver. Well now you know and you can thank the SCTV Network for that.
So what's a TV network without a commercial to keep things running. So surprised that when Ephman went looking for one, he couldn't find it anywhere. This is when he realized that SCTV was not a real TV station but rather, a television show. Crazy right?
