6th Street @ Arlene's Grocery

6th Street, Mike Miller, Grant Cook, los angeles, electro pop
Event Date: Sat, 2010-05-01

So here's a band that Ephman doesn't know that much about.  6th Street.  They're from L.A. (so let's not hold that too much against them).

He had to suck it up and checked out their MySpace page.  He was glad to see that there were no flashing animations all over the place, whizzing and banging, and giving kids seizures kind of stuff going on.  Instead there were some nice songs with great melody and this really funny bio they wrote:

We write all our songs on a 140-year-old piano.
We record our music on a PC.
Our parents support us, but think we’re crazy.
We really have no idea what we’re doing.
But we just keep looking up.

This is a duo act.  Always harder to be a duo then any other combo band Ephman thinks.  Plus they have a good variety of influences they list like, Michael Jackson, Billy Joel, Justin Timberlake, John Mayer, and Owl City.  But you can totally hear the Bruce Hornsby in them as well.  It's an interesting mix.  So for like $10 bucks Ephman's going to check them out.  Or if you're a cheap bastard like most of Ephman's friends are they're playing for free (yes Ephman said FREE), at Kenny's Castaways on April 27th.
