Ephman was in total awe watching Peter Gabriel and the New Blood Orchestra at Radio City Music Hall. It's too bad the crowd was filled with wankers. But whatever Gabriel totally made up for it. Plus it's always nice to see a surprise guest hit the stage. Can you guess who?
For a new band, these cats are pretty cool in Ephman's books. Good songs, unique enough act, love the screen, talented musicians, and sold stage presence. What can you ask for more? You need to check this band out because if they keep pushing hard they have a chance. So click in and watch a video or two. OK?
Not to shabby a concert, not too shabby at all. And no it wasn't because of the fine bottle of white wine Ephman downed durning the process. Robyn might not have been on the top of his game, but that's why it was such a charming concert.
All the pieces were in place for one of those legendary concerts Ephman always talks about. Especially with special surprise guest from Steely Dan, Donald Fagen on stage... But this show just left Ephman feeling "why?". Was it for the money? Was it to promote his new album? Was because he didn't want to get sued for pulling out? Levon should have just stayed home in Woodstock and got better.
This is the third time Ephman's seen Nick Lowe. OK, keep in mind that this review comes about a week after he played. Vegas was calling, and Ephman had no time to review the show while he was there... Maybe this will lighten things up a bit?
This concert was a family affair. Oh if you know the story that works on so many different levels. There were the Wainwrights, the Roches, and the Roches-Wainwrights all on stage together. All in support of Loudon's new album. You can thank the dead Charlie Poole for this one.
